Anniversary Trip! Part 2

While exploring the area around the Sybaris, we ALSO found THIS wonderful store!!!

!!!!!!

We went in and my husband found several Fantasy books he was interested in. I searched the Stephen Kings and found nothing (other than the Dark Tower series) that I did not already have. Then I went over to check out the Joe Hills. There were four, and I wanted every single one. I decided to think about it, considering the amount of unread books I have in my garage, so I walked around some more. I then found the clearance section. There I found an amazing book of poetry for only $10. It was ENORMOUS!! Oooh I wanted it SOOOOO BAD!!! But my husband decided to refrain from buying the fantasy books he wanted (he wouldn't read them anyway ~ he'd do like my stepson does and make me read them lol) so I reluctantly didn't buy the poetry book.

I still want it, though.....if we were actually close to this bookstore I would have gone back by now and bought the poetry book. I MAY see if they still have it the next time we're in Indy (more on that, later).

Speaking of the fantasy books.....while he was looking through the titles he said "huh! Drizzt books!" I was surprised to hear this familiar name, and I said, "Drizzt the dark elf??"

The LOOK that came from MY husband made me about pee myself laughing. I was the LAST person he expected to know who Drizzt Do'Urden was!! BUT to be fair....I probably WOULDN'T have known who this particular character was if it wasn't for my stepson. He bought a book because it looked interesting and was only fifty cents. He kept it in his room for about a week and then brought it to me. He said he wanted ME to read it and tell him if it was interesting enough for HIM to read it. At first I had NO IDEA what was going on and it was pretty boring. It became my official "Van Book" (the book I keep in the van and read only if I don't remember to bring a book with me somewhere). Then suddenly the book explained itself to the reader and I got really into it. I told my stepson the book seemed like it came from some kind of series but it stood alone as a story pretty well, so when I was finished he should probably take the time to read it. I figured it was a trilogy or something. That day at "Books-A-Million" I learned that there are a dozen Drizzt books AT LEAST! I may forget to mention that to my stepson....besides, my book is more about Drizzt's COMPANIONS than Drizzt himself.

So anyway..... we drove past the Sybaris again and saw a sign that said it offered TOURS!! We still had an hour before check-in and thought a tour just might be the perfect way to spend the time before we could actually check in. Well THAT'S when we found out that SOMEONE bumped our reservation. So we were in Indianapolis with no place to stay. We were just horrified. I thought we were going to have to drive all the way back home and that our certificate was already voided and we were just screwed out of the money we spent on it. My husband's head just about exploded.

The Sybaris was very apologetic. They got a room at the Marriott that they agreed to pay for and they gave us a $100 gift certificate to a steak house. They even gave us one of their signature candles that as it melts you can use the melted "wax" as a massage oil. Lastly, (and bestly) they said our certificate was not only still valid, but they would upgrade our room for us and all we had to pay were the taxes. That was so awesome of them. So we will be coming back to Indianapolis at some point.

Placated, we trudged to the Mariott.

We complained on the way because we wouldn't get the massage chair that we would have gotten at the Sybaris, and we wouldn't get the hot tub in our room, either.

The lady at the front desk was very nice and informed us that she was able to get us the "Spa Room," which was a room with a hot tub in it. Well, awesome!!

They also had a fire pit and a swimming pool.

The VIEW left a little to be desired lol.....

but we were happy that we didn't have to drive all the way back home with nothing to show for it except some chocolate truffles we got from the chocolate factory.

To be continued.......[end part 2]

Anniversary Trip! Part One

Anniversary Trip!!

My husband thought he'd be wonderful this year and bought some Sybaris tickets at an auction. We set up our stay to be close to our actual anniversary, and we headed out to Indianapolis. Check in wasn't until 6pm so we started cruising around trying to decide where we would have our Anniversary Dinner.

We found several restaurants that weren't fancy but they were within walking distance of the hotel! That meant, if I so desired it, I could consume alcoholic beverages [because I'm always ALWAYS the designated driver] and we could walk back to the hotel!

While we were deciding we saw a movie theater. We decided to drive past it and see what it was playing. We certainly had enough time to kill before check-in that we could go see a movie. Once we turned the corner to go into the theater's parking lot we saw a Chocolate Factory!!

And inside were the most amazing things MADE OF CHOCOLATE!!

Chocolate chessboard!!!!!!!

Boxes of chocolate to put your chocolate in!

A board game for the chocolate lover in your life!!

Chocolate for your cop friends!~

Oh I wish I could have gotten this for my friend who is graduating nursing school soon!!!!!

And my personal favorite....the chocolate piano!!!!! It looked so awesome!! In fact, if it had been a chocolate MINT piano I would have probably bought it.

And you all know what the absolute BEST way to churn chocolate is, don't you?? Aw come on....think of what the most famous chocolatier EVER said....Willy Wonka!! The BEST way to churn chocolate is:

BY WATERFALL!!!

(Not sure how well you can see that~~ my iPod doesn't have a good zoom on it.)

They had a waterfall for dark chocolate and a waterfall for milk chocolate. It was pretty freaking awesome.
