Yesterday was the last day I had to spend with my oldest before she goes off to basic training with the army. We decided since she's an adult now she should take us out for dinner (it was her idea). So we went to town and had a nice dinner. We even ran into my best friend who has known my oldest her entire life.
After we were done eating we decided to go watch a movie. Our movie theater doesn't allow outside food so my 18 year-old (nearly 19!) took our leftovers out and put them in my van while we were buying the tickets.
About halfway through the movie ("Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them") I got a phone call (I had it on silent). I saw it was from home and ignored it. Within ten seconds they called again. I started to worry a little so I Facebook messaged my daughter B. She sent me this message:
"POLICE ARE HERE.
WHERE.
ARE.
YOU."
I immediately got up and said I was returning the call and left the theater. In my mind there had recently been two car accidents and I halfway believe in the "rules of three" where bad things happen in threes. My stepson was at a play and some kid was giving him a ride home so I was terrified he was in an accident.
I called home and my kid gave the phone to the police officer that was at my house. He told me the mall security found my van with "every single door wide open" and they were looking for me to see if it was stolen. They called the county police and that's who showed up at my house.
I explained that I was actually AT the mall but there was absolutely no way I would EVER leave my doors open because I had a very expensive camera along with two very expensive lenses (that I got on sale for crazy cheap considering how much they are actually worth) and I immediately rushed out of the mall fully intending on getting to my van without much thought to my very large, muscular and scary-looking husband (who was still watching the movie). The policeman said mall security closed the doors to my van before they called him.
I opened my van and immediately went for my camera bag and opened it up. Both cameras and both lenses still there. I checked the bag containing the book, the game and the movie we had bought earlier (for about ten bucks total); still there. I checked the change nook where I kept coins; still there. Phone chargers; still there. Jackets still there. Blanket still there. As far as I could tell nothing was missing at all. I told the officer that and thanked him for checking with us to see if the van was stolen.
He said if anything turned up missing to call 9-1-1 and I confirmed that my husband and oldest was with me.
So I went back in, shaken but grateful my camera was still there (who cares about money when my wonderful camera is still with me!!) and had to tell my Mr and my oldest what happened. I missed part of the movie but again, I was too thankful I still had my camera to care.
Oldest got a lecture on LOCKING THE DOORS!!! (Which she insists she did buuuuut)
So we had a very interesting last night out with my oldest. :p
(PS my stepson got home fine and safe also).

Busy!
This time of years is just ridiculous for me. We had football playoffs which ran into basketball practices, which made things difficult. Now football is over and basketball practice continues (two kids in two different schools both with basketball ~ this should be fun), and we have THE PARTY.
THE PARTY was going to be cancelled for the second year in a row because we are pretty much constantly broke. No one is hiring (apparently) so it's all we can do to keep up with the bills. BUT our oldest is about to leave for basic training in the army, and she DEMANDED we keep THE PARTY as scheduled. She even offered to help pay for it. So we decided to go ahead and do THE PARTY and it will double as a "good-bye" party for her. (She is leaving the 22nd.)
So we've been really busy. Things like this blog (which I'm fairly certain no one actually reads anyway) get put on the back burner. So here's some pictures from a while back.
I parked here.
Here's a close-up of the sign. Where I parked. LOL (My husband told me to park there.)
Where my husband works now:
My dad's aloe plant (which is WAY COOL!).
Photo of me that my oldest took for our GISHWHES contest.:
Okay that's it for now.
THE PARTY is tomorrow. If you actually know us and want to say good-bye to our oldest before she takes off to join the army feel free to stop by!
