Unpacking Project Post 1

Okay so I've been slacking on unpacking. Packing it fun, moving is exciting, but UNpacking SUCKS. (IMO)

So I'm bored and have nothing better to do than take pictures so a blog post it is!

Unpacking project Day 1:

I decided that AT MINIMUM I should unpack one (1) crate and one (1) box every day. Now that I have a functioning washing machine I added I should go though one (1) bag also.

I have not had a functioning washing machine for a while. About two months, actually. It stopped spinning at first, which caused the clothes to be massively wet when they came out, but that wasn't a big deal because I prefer to hang them on a clothesline anyway (the sun is a natural antimicrobial and stain fighter, plus it is a relief on the old electricity bill), but then it stopped agitating as well. So my clothes stopped getting clean. I looked into just getting it fixed but my husband wanted a new/used machine. So we got a used machine and I've been trying to work on Mount Dirty Clothes.

Wanna pic?

So I worked on laundry all day and at the end of it Mount Dirty Clothes became officially titled Dirty Clothes Hill:

TBone ran in front of the camera LOL

It looks like I did more than I did, however, because in the grand tradition of my husband's family he forces me to separate the laundry into different loads: Whites, Brights, and Darks/Jeans/Towels. So there's still THIS mess....(not pictured: Whites, because they are all done :p)

So I was going good on the laundry, whites all done and a good chunk of the brights done, so I went out and got started on the unpacking part of it.

I had taken some pictures of Mount Unpacking but they didn't come out right. I will try a panorama later if I'm still bored. In the meantime, I took a crate from this pile:
The gray crate (and everything on top of it) closest to the camera and on top, to be exact. Here's the treasures I found inside ;):

Mostly my stepdaughter's stuff. I cleaned everything up and distributed the items to the people they needed to go to and cleaned up the crate because I still have uses for the crates. I have Christmas decorations in desperate need of a crate or two to live in until the weekend after Thanksgiving.

So then I realized how messy the porch was getting so I cleaned it up. That took a few hours! I left most of the spiderwebs alone until I find an attachment to my shop vac but here's the finished product of that few hours:

The wooden frame you see on the card table is something I'm planning on painting and hanging up in my daughter's room to put My Little Ponies on. Also the ottoman (which you can barely see in the bottom left picture) I will be cleaning up and repairing and that will go to my stepson. The top can be a seat, a footrest, or you can flip it over and it's a tabletop for drinks, etc. Plus the inside is good for storage. Being a 15 year-old living with two younger brothers he deserves some extra storage. I'm glad he wants it because I love my ottoman but there just isn't room in the house for it.

After all that I had to drive kids around to their respective activities, drive all the way back into town to make a car payment that I forgot about (LOL) then we took all the kids to dinner at our local pizza joint and then my stepkids had to go up to see their bio-mom for their court-appointed visitation. By the time we got back I was so tired I sent everyone to bed and I hit the sack myself. I was EXHAUSTED!!
