Huge success!!
This year has been different than the past three years. For starters, our younger sister Bree actually came over to be a part of it (yay!). Also in the past we have only made our deceased mother's special Christmas cookies to give out to people. We've never ever found a recipe special enough to replace it and I think we've pretty much stopped trying. But this year we decided we'd try a few other cookie recipes, too.
At first we wanted to make gingerbread people (girls and boys) but the gingerbread recipe was a little complicated. But remember when I blogged about my ginger cookie recipe that wasn't really a ginger cookie? Well I pulled that out. They are called "Gob-Gob-Gobblers" and I got the recipe from one of my sister's "Name Brand Recipe" books. We decided to make those, too.
We all had "Hershey's Kiss Cookies" when we were younger (A Fran recipe maybe?) and Jen and I hadn't eaten them in the past, oh ... 15 years. So we decided to try them! Jen found the recipe in a magazine, I found it on hersheys.com. So we made those, too!
We were GOING to make "Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies" (look it up on allrecipes.com) BUT we didn't have time. I MIGHT make them later except I promised my husband I'd attempt a "Pumpkin Roll" (also on allrecipes) so the cookies may have to wait.
When the kids got home from school they helped decorate all of the cookies except the goblers. Us sisters decorated those.
We were very happy Bree decided to join us because she had several very good ideas. (All my siblings are smarter than me.) And we ended up making over 20 lovely special cookie tins to give out as gifts.
THANK YOU SISTERS!!!
